Hanseatic League, home, historyAnklam past and present.

Authentic half-timbered houses, cobblestones and clinker bricks mingle with modern architecture, fresh colours and the Nordic warmth of the locals. A stroll through the lovingly lively town centre, past the remains of St. George's tower, is like a meeting of past, present and future - and makes Anklam a highlight of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The Old Post OfficeTradition meets modernity

A centre for meetings and communication in the past and today: Anklam's former post and telegraph office forms the basis for the new hotel concept. The preservation of the historic walls and the skilful symbiosis of old and new are attractive and stylish down to the last detail. Anklam residents and guests alike have the opportunity to relax and enjoy hospitality in a unique ambience - and after years of vacancy, the view of the interior of the historically interesting building is once again unobstructed.

Old building

Built in 1878, it defied the wars and survived the division of Germany: The brickwork of the old post and telegraph office was and still is at the centre of events. With the rededication of the counter hall for overnight guests, a piece of Anklam's history has become a visible address for holidaymakers and business travellers.

Old counter hall

With Prussian thoroughness: the counter hall of the historic post and telegraph office shines as brightly as it did at the grand opening in 1878 after extensive renovation. Together with the culinary and cultural offerings of ‘OTTO's Café’, the ‘Postmeisterei’, the ‘Amtsstube’, the ‘Poststübchen’ and the ‘Hansekeller’, the new Anklamer Hof invites residents and guests alike to enjoy special moments.

New building

»Welcome, sweet sleep - I am content because I am good« (Wilhelm Busch)

Space with an individual, timelessly beautiful character: our rooms in the new building offer generous space with maximum comfort in every category. Warm colours and plenty of daylight meet your needs, as does the varied floor plan. At the Anklamer Hof, we ensure that time is turned into real time out.

Christian Andreas Cothenius

Determined and with a great thirst for research
The physician Christian Andreas Cothenius was one of the great pioneers in his field. With countless commendations, he was appointed personal physician to Potsdam by King Frederick II. In addition, the restless physician was responsible for constant improvements in military medicine, among other things. In particular, the industrious Anklamer was responsible for improving the military hospital system, which was clearly underdeveloped for his time. The namesake of the ‘Cothenius Medal’ died at the biblical age of 80 for the time. This is still awarded today by the German Academy of Sciences ‘Leopoldina’.
