Christian Andreas CotheniusDetermined and with a great thirst for research

The physician Christian Andreas Cothenius was one of the great pioneers in his field. With countless commendations, he was appointed personal physician to Potsdam by King Frederick II. In addition, the restless physician was responsible for constant improvements in military medicine, among other things. In particular, the industrious Anklamer was responsible for improving the military hospital system, which was clearly underdeveloped for his time. The namesake of the ‘Cothenius Medal’ died at the biblical age of 80 for the time. This is still awarded today by the German Academy of Sciences ‘Leopoldina’.
